Subject:  Sept 21 – Make history at the People’s Climate March – San Diego!

Dear <Friends, Members, etc>,

Have you heard?!  On September 21st people from around the nation and the world will come together in an unprecedented citizen mobilization for the People’s Climate March in New York City. As world leaders meet at the United Nations climate change summit, hundreds of thousands of marchers will demand the world we know is within our reach: a world with an economy that works for people and the planet; a world safe from the ravages of climate change; a world with good jobs, clean air and water, and healthy communities. Other marches will take place around the world as we collectively call on our leaders to act now on climate change.

Because it’s not just the UN that can and must act, San Diegans will also gather to send a loud and clear message to local leaders that we also demand immediate action on climate change here at home. We will call for solutions – a rapid transition from fossil fuels to renewables and energy efficiency, a strong Climate Action Plan, sustainable water policies, affordable, convenient mass transit, green jobs, clean renewable energy and healthy communities.

Will you join the People’s Climate March San Diego on September 21?  Click here for more information.

The People’s Climate March San Diego will be on Sunday, September 21. We will gather at City Hall at 12:30. At 1:00 pm we’ll call for a strong Climate Action Plan, stop at America Plaza to highlight transportation alternatives, and end at the County Administration Waterfront Park, where we will hear from local leaders representing different communities. Confirmed speakers include San Diego City Council President Todd Gloria and Secretary-Treasurer of the San Diego-Imperial Counties Labor Council AFL-CIO, Richard Barrera.

The People’s Climate March San Diego has been endorsed by a coalition of over 45 environmental, health, labor and civic organizations.

Help make sure our San Diegan leaders get the message loud and clear! Join us on September 21.

Click here to RSVP, for all the details, and for resources to share the information with your friends, family and colleagues. Together, we can make sure our leaders take serious climate action!

See you there,

Subject: Invitation to endorse the San Diego People’s Climate March

Dear <<Name/OrgName>>,

As you may know, on September 21st people from around the nation will come together in an unprecedented citizen mobilization for the People’s Climate March in New York City. As world leaders meet at the United Nations climate change summit, hundreds of thousands of marchers will demand the world we know is within our reach: a world with an economy that works for people and the planet; a world safe from the ravages of climate change; a world with good jobs, clean air and water, and healthy communities. Other marches will take place around the world as we collectively call on our leaders to act on climate change.

Here in San Diego a growing coalition is hosting our own local march –People’s Climate March San Diego – to support the New York and global events and to focus on solutions to climate change that we can implement locally. We are working to bring hundreds of San Diegans together to call for a rapid transition from fossil fuels to renewables and energy efficiency, and a just and sustainable economy.

The People’s Climate March San Diego will be on Sunday, September 21. We will gather at City Hall at 12:30. At 1:00pm we’ll call for a strong Climate Action Plan for San Diego, stop at America Plaza to highlight transportation alternatives and healthy communities, and end at the County Waterfront Building Park, where we will hear from local leaders representing different communities on developing sustainable policies and supporting green jobs and clean energy. There will also be music, big colorful visuals, and activities. We’ll end around 3:30-4 pm.

Confirmed speakers include Todd Gloria, San Diego City Council President and Richard Barrera, Secretary-Treasurer, San Diego-Imperial Counties Labor Council, AFL-CIO.

The coalition of over 45 organizations endorsing the march to date includes: SanDiego350, Environmental Health Coalition, Sierra Club San Diego, San Diego-Imperial Counties Labor Council, AFL-CIO, IBEW Local 569, Circulate San Diego, Citizens’ Climate Lobby, California Nurses Association – National Nurses United, Food and Water Watch, Center for Biological Diversity, AFT Guild 1931, and the San Diego County Democratic Party.

In order to make the event as big as possible, we’ll need all hands on deck. We believe yourvision for the future is in line with the People’s Climate March San Diego, and we’d love to have your organization be a part of our coalition of changemakers!  Here are some ways your organization can support the event:

1.  Endorse the People’s Climate March San Diego. Please send us your logo and url so we can add them to our promotional materials and website (no other requirements).  To see a list of other organizations that have endorsed, please visit: https://peoplesclimatesd.org/coalition/

2.  Email your members to invite them to the march. We’d be delighted to send you a sample.

3.  Have a volunteer give a brief presentation at a meeting. The presenter would only need 5 minutes or so, and can bring promotional materials to hand out.

4.  Publicize the event details to your webpage, events calendar, or newsletter.  Let us know if you would like a short event description.

5.  Share the event details on Facebook and Twitter.
